2013 APACVS Critical Care Conference

The 2013 APACVS Critical Care Conference will offer Physician Assistants and Advance Practice Nurses innovative state of the art lectures in general and cardiac critical care and unparalleled critical care lab experiences utilizing both cadaver and SimMan simulation training, as well as the new state of the art Cardiac Surgery Advanced Life Support Course.

Participants will have the opportunity to practice such skills as:

• Bronchoscopy
• Bedside Echocardiography
• Percutaneous tracheostomy
• Emergent Cricoidotomy
• Central and arterial line placement
• Chest tube placement and thoracentesis.
• Emergent re-entry sternotomy
• Internal cardiac massage and defibrillation
• Advanced temporary epicardial and transdermal cardiac pacing

This unique hands-on interactive training experience allows participants to learn and demonstrate appropriate critical care skills leading to certificates of completion and, as appropriate, academic excellence and certification through specific course offerings including:

• The Society of Critical Care Medicine Fundamentals of Critical Care
• Support Course
• APACVS Certificate of Completion in Invasive Skills Course

The eastern area of Long Island, New York is a quick train ride to New York City and is within easy driving/cab distance to world renown beaches, fishing, wine country, and the beautiful towns of Montauk and The Hamptons.
