Leadership Fellow Program        Getinge

The Getinge Leadership Fellow Program is a twelve-month time commitment by all parties (fellow, APACVS, and Getinge) that would provide the fellow with exposure to leadership mentoring, professional organizational function, research direction, and political development to enhance the personal and professional abilities of the candidate as it relates to the medical specialty of the CVTPA profession.

Minimum requirements: The candidate must:

1. Be a dues paying member of APACVS.
2. Be currently employed in the work, research, leadership, or teaching of CVT Surgery.
3. Be recommended/sponsored by an APACVS member in "good standing" who can verify the character, intent, and abilities of the said candidate.
4. Have an active interest in the participation of the leadership of the APACVS.
5. Be able and available to commit to the active participation of local and national meetings, phone conferences, and mailings as required to conduct the business of the APACVS and Getinge.

Selection process of the Getinge Leadership Fellowship candidate:

A formal application shall be submitted to a “selection committee.” This “committee” shall be comprised of two APACVS BOD members as appointed by the President, two PACTS Board members, one representative of Getinge, the corporate sponsor, and the Executive Director of the APACVS. All members of this committee shall have one vote. In the event of a tie, the President of the APACVS, after considering all of the facts, may vote and thus select a candidate.

Duties of a Leadership Fellow: The fellow must:

1. Attend and participate in BOD / Committee meetings as a non-voting member.
2. Work directly under the supervision of the APACVS President and Executive Director to carry out specific assignments for the organization as agreed upon. The assigned Mentor will serve for one year concurrently with the Leadership Fellow.
3. Carry out a research or leadership project chosen by the BOD, provide an original manuscript to offer for publication, and present at a national or regional meeting at the end of the fellowship.
4. Represent the corporate philosophy of Getinge and the APACVS in all public and private professional interactions.
5. Have a personal “activities review” of his/her progress at six months and at the completion of the fellowship year by the President of the APACVS. The President will first consult with those with whom the fellow has worked to ensure progress and goal achievement.
